David Movie Review by Common Man:

David Movie Review by Common Man:

Director Bejoy Nambiar was assistant director of Manirathnam and his movie David is clashing against his Guru’s Kadal today. Even, producer of this movie is Manirathnam’s cousin sister Sharada. Editor of the movie is Sreekar Prasad who is also editor of Kadal.

Bejoy Nambiar’s first movie was a Hindi movie titled “Shaitan” which was declared as HIT. Hence, there is lots of expectation in Bollywood for this movie. But, there was not much promotion in Tamil Cinema for this movie and hence, there was less expectation here. Jiiva plays the role of Vinay Virmani in Tamil Version. Other than that, most of the Star casts in Hindi & Tamil version are the same. Hence, many people feel that Tamil Version may look like a dubbed version.

Both Jiiva and Vikram are talented actors, but their last two movies didn’t do well at the Box office. Let us see whether they manage to give a HIT with their COMBO for the first time in this review.

Story: It is about the lives of two Different Individuals with the same name. Movie moves at a very slow pace and screenplay build up the scenes in such a way, which makes us think that when those 2 characters meet in the climax, it would be fantabulous. But, sadly there was absolutely nothing in the climax. Movie runs for just 128 minutes, but you may feel it as dragging as 3 hour movie as there is absolutely no story in the movie.

Vikram plays the role of a drunkard in this movie and does the same role in Hindi version too. As usual, he had lived his character in this movie too, though he had limited scope to perform. No other actor can do this role better than him as the scenes are very ordinary and only an actor of VIKRAM Class can engage the audience with GREAT ACTING.

Jiiva’s role in the movie only will give us the feeling that we are watching a TAMIL MOVIE. It is quite similar to Siddharth Role in “Ayudha Ezhuthu”. He had done an excellent job. He is definitely one of the best actor in the present generation.

Isha Sharvani who made a special appearance in the song “Theeyae Theeyae” from Maattrraan plays the role of a deaf and mute girl in this movie. She looks pretty and has acted well.

Nassar, Tabu, Lara Dutta plays the supporting role and have done a neat job.

Cinematography by Rathnavelu and Vinod was Awesome.

Music is done by 6 different People, but the person whom we all knew is Anirudh Ravichander. “Kanavae Kanavae" scored by him is the best song in the movie.

Director Bejoy Nambiar marks his DEBUT in Tamil Cinema with a DUBBED VERSION. He may call it as BILINGUAL, but he had not even bothered about the lip sync of the actors. Except Vikram, Jiiva & Nassar, all the roles are played by Bollywood actors. In Hindi, movie is 160 minutes long played by 3 Different characters with same name as “David”, but Tamil Version runs for only 120 minutes with 2 Characters.

This Movie will definitely not satisfy the COMMON MAN as there is absolutely no NATIVITY and feels like DUBBED VERSION.

Vikram fans, Jiiva fans will like this movie as their heroes have give one of their best performances in this movie.

People who like movies which are typically different from regular ones MAY like this movie.

Rating for this Movie by Common Man – 2 / 5 (0.5 for Jiiva & Vikram Acting)
